Oh No, Ed Jew!: Lungless Salamander

Today's Chron Bay Area section takes a break from covering the plight of lungless salamanders in Korea (why is this in the Bay Area section? Yes, yes, we know, it's because Cal researchers are researching them -- we're asking the question in a more philosophical sense.) to report that: oh no! Ed Jew's state criminal trial has been postponed again, to at least April 08.

To justify the request for a further delay, Ed Jew's attorney Stuart Hanlon says he's been very busy on other matters and isn't yet familiar with the facts of Ed's situation. Aw, come on, Mr. Hanlon, the whole city is familiar with the facts of Ed's situation! He lives in Burlingame.

Hey, wasn't Ed Jew saying he wanted to go to trial as (wait for it...) quickly as possible last summer? Maybe he meant he wanted to go to trial quickly on one of the other ones he has pending. Here's the status on the rest of Ed's litigations:

--SF City Attorney civil case re lying about residency: Filed in SF Superior Court. Ed has until Dec. 10 to file a response.
--Gavin Newsom's misconduct claims (.pdf): Filed before the SF Ethics Commission. Hearing scheduled this Friday about whether the claims should be dismissed.
--Federal extortion case: Filed in the San Francisco federal district court, before Judge Susan Illston (who has the BALCO/Bonds cases, incidentally). Ed to appear in court on Friday.

Sounds like it'll be a busy Friday at the SF Civic Center!
