Spare the Air, Won't You?

nofire.gif

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District is calling all ye Bay Area residents to spare the air tonight by refraining from lighting a fire or using other wood burning appliances. (Does that mean no Duraflames, you ask? Yes. Yes, it does.)

The morning forecast, it seems, predicted unhealthy PM (particulate matter) concentrations. And we have no idea what that means exactly.

But in lieu of a cozy fire, we suggest putting on the Yule Log DVD with the sound off -- it plays choice X-mas music, which isn't at all fitting. Yet -- and cranking up the heater.

How about giving us free transit tonight and tomorrow? No? You're just going to ask us not to light up fires? Hey BAAQMD...come strong or don't come at all!

Particulate Matter (PM). I think of it as big chunks of dust in the air, covered with charcoal and burnt fossil fuel residue.
Mill Valley already has a ban on fires in the fireplace, don't they? . . .

Mill Valley also bans cars worth less than $100,000. Or is that Belvedere?

Until they ban smoking in downtown SF so that I don't have to walk through a frigging disgusting cloud to get to work, they can kiss my fire-lovin' ass. Talk about your unhealthy matter.
