Getting to Know... MiGGs
With over 70 shows since July 1st, MiGGs deserves a break but not until they play one last show in San Francisco. Featured on Monday in "This Week in Le Rock" MiGGs blend an alt/rock, emo, pop and classic rock sound to perfection. They are returning to Cafe du Nord this Saturday night before they take a month off to put the finishing touches of their newest album, Unraveled (which we'll be listening to at the beginning of next year.) Sfist had a chance to ask, Don Miggs - the lead singer - a few questions. We found out he is leaving Montclair for Malibu. (Ick!) His house is up for sale, so if you want to live in a rock star's former house, we're sure he'll get you in touch with his realtor. Join us at Cafe du Nord on Saturday night at 9pm. (Get tickets here!)
Full given name: Donald Patrick Miggs
Hometown: Home, hometown? Bay Shore, NY. I have a home in beautiful Montclair/Oakland I'm selling but now I live in Malibu and Tampa.
Relationship status: Incredibly happily married to Lisa DeBartolo (yes, daughter of THAT DeBartolo)
MAC or PC? MAC all the way.
Favorite post-show meal: Usually, something with chocolate.
Pre-show rituals: Corny vocal warm-ups that the band laughs at me for.
Worst onstage mishap: We've done over 70 shows since July alone; we get plenty of mishaps. In Arizona, we had cops come in and stop us mid-song to question people about a domestic disturbance that took place outside of the venue! I've fallen over monitors, which doesn't make me look too cool and we just had the power go out in front of a large audience. So I grabbed an acoustic and went into the crowd and sang "American Girl" by Tom Petty with Brian Totten (drummer) on shakers. My Dad always taught me to be prepared for anything!

Special skills: I can juggle. I can go for quite a while without sleep and I can give you more pull ups than the average man! (Not sure how special any of that is.)
Last book you've read: Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk. Reading is like water to me - have to do it.
Favorite magazine: Rolling Stone
Must-see TV show: Curb Your Enthusiasm is the only show I currently watch.
Last good movie you saw: We're off today so we're threatening to see Lions For Lambs - so I hope that's good. Last great one is The Departed, I suppose. It was no Crash but it was good!
Favorite place you have lived: On the beach in Malibu has been pretty nice. I do love Montclair, too.
First concert ever saw: Night Ranger and .38 Special, baby....Hold on loosely!
If you could go back in time and catch any concert, what would it be?: The Rolling Stones "Let's Spend the Night Together" tour.
Current band/musician (besides yourself) you have been recommending to your friends: You don't have the space for that! Bruce Springsteen, The Killers, Coheed & Cambria, Ryan Adams...I go with lists, sorry.
Most played song on your iPod: I don't know how to do that! This week it's "Feathers" by Coheed & Cambria.
Worst job you ever had: Cleaning old appliances in the dead of winter on Long Island. Freezing...
Favorite venue to play in: Cafe Du Nord
Best place to hang in SF: SF Moma is always a good hang. For people watching, try Union Square and for a drink try Top of the Mark.
Favorite restaurant in SF: We've traveled this country over and over and have eaten everywhere. SF has them all beat, even NY or LA. North Beach Restaurant or Farallon.
Favorite SF neighborhood: Nob Hill
