congrats, california, on your swift response to yet another disaster. i, dunno, people criticize cali for its disasters but you guys hold your own. no i am not being sarcastic and yes i think this nice not from chicago will get to the governator. or something.

I was working on the cleanup today at Ocean Beach and the local officials there were furious that the feds have decided to reopen the beach tomorrow. It is not "clean" by any means, there were several hundred people out there picking up gooey tarballs today. Depending on the weather and tides, varying amounts of oil has been washing up each day.

by the time it's all said and done, i'm sure the owners of the ship will have spent millions to help pay for cleaning up what was totally out of their control. a 59 year old fuckup still allowed to pilot these ships into well known immobile objects. what a fuck nut! i actually feel bad for the owners of the ship. they are victims here too.

Bah! I don't understand why the national park systems have to lose money because of someone else's mistake. They're already woefully underfunded - shouldn't the Cosco Busan have to help us out with that cashola?

Yay! The Hummercam is showing that Linda Mar is still heavily socked by fog, but come on down, surfers and beachgoers! That fog'll burn off by tomorrow.
