Bad choice of words, but you know what I meant. I just don't think you can get "athletes" to collectively start acting better, since they never really have. All that's changed in recent years is the way the media covers them.

I don't think Greek gods had any kind of moral standard that anyone was supposed to follow. But kids do look up to athletes, for better or worse, and it would help the sport for them to recognize that and set a better example.

I think that it all depends on the drug. We wouldn't want some sports stud looking and acting like living skeleton Amy Winehouse. Of course, god only knows what she's on. She's probably shooting-up draino at this point. But a shot of triple distilled testosterone with HGH every day should cause the players a good rage. They'll get to play with their balls much more agressively.

The line between 'okay' and 'not okay' performance enhancers is finer than most folks probably realize, it's pretty much arbitrary, and it's only going to get more blurred as drug-making technology improves. Can't speak for all sports fans, but I think most pro athletes *are* on the same playing field and that it's a performance-enhanced field. Personally I tune in for the competition and to be entertained, not because I think they're Greek gods who are supposed to uphold some moral example for me to follow.

Maybe we should have a separate, lesser league with sanctioned, somewhat regulated enhancers. It would have more of a circus-freak/carnie type feel - guys with heads the size of pumpkins, testicles the size of peas, and maybe a super woman or two. The appeal would certainly be WWF-ian/cage fighting-like. But the real question is: would this appeal to Bay Area residents, or more of a Vegas/mainstream America circuit? Certainly there will always be demand for the "authentic".

i dont understand why fans put up with the mlb union refusing urine tests. that basically tells me every single baseball player is on the juice. fuck em all!
