housing 42k people in every available hotel for a week, putting more dollars in a g-string in town for week, and on and on and paying the annual property taxes he pays on that mansion in pac heights pretty much gives him the right to have gavin blow him every year. rock on larry. oh, and touche jevens!

Dumb question I know, but if it was in tents around the Cow Palace, why wasn't it just in the Cow Palace? I love jevans' prediction for next year's bash. I imagine Ellison will kick off the whole event with the clubbing of many tiny, adorable seals--if he hasn't done that already.

Old or not, I'd have been really upset about being kept up all night. People pay rent & taxes so that they can sleep. the party went until midnight. all night? COME ON.

Ah ha ha, I live in Noe Valley and I thought it was some teenagers having a party a block or two away! Seemed weird to be having a big blowout on a Wednesday, but I just rolled with it. It sure was loud though, but what Larry wants, Larry gets.

@Suckafree: Old or not, I'd have been really upset about being kept up all night. People pay rent & taxes so that they can sleep. Why should a rich company be able to inconvenience half a city so that they can live it up? Unless they're paying mad taxes to the city and the state (in which case maybe I'd suck it up), they should have to abide by the law like the rest of us mere mortals.

I live in the Outer Sunset and could hear the booming. Didn't know what it was until I read the news in the morning. Must have been one LOUD party.

I was a ringer attending this event in '01, and all I can say is it was unbelievably posh. Lenny Kravitz played that year too. Here's what's wierd -- know who got me in? Plant Trees!!! Yes, that Plant Trees. He somehow had a huge wad of free admission wristbands. Given all this... I cannot ever discourage this event from taking place.

How does an outdoor concert that disturbs people over a 3-mile radius get "approved", anyway? Isn't there such a thing as noise ordinances in SF?
