SFist: Pierre Valley: A Real Neighborhood After All

I used to live in what they are calling Diamond Heights (but since it was Chenery and not the "heights" part I never called that, always considering it part of Glen Park). Anyway, right around the corner from this supposed Pierre Valley, and I never heard of it in my life. What is that, 2 blocks square?

All these names are just ways for real estate agents to not have to tell their clients that really all of those neighborhoods are part of the Mission District. Re: Mattress District. I used to call that neighborhood (when I lived on Polk), Hospital Gulch. Are there are lot of mattress stores there now? Because their really wasn't even that much going on back in 1999.

Heh, the Mattress District does fit right in with the next neighborhood over, the illustrious Mervyns Heights... A friend of mine lives in what is apparently Pierre Valley, and I must admit, anytime anyone would ask me where she lived, I usually said "Outer Noe/Outer Mission/near Bernal Heights...something like that, she's near Mission & San Jose." It never got more concise than that. :/

Deborah, I much prefer the Intermission to "Pyair-ee Valley". SYFer, I have purchased most of my bedding related structures in the Mattress District for the past decade. I applaud and endorse your new district designation.

I'm still waiting to see SF's colorful and bustling "Mattress District" marked on the map (Geary corridor between Stanyan and Masonic).
