SFist Tonight

-- Roller Boogie (1979): '70s campfest about brightly colored roller skaters trying to keep their roller skating rink open should be fun, we think. For some reason older folks seem to have a higher tolerance for prolonged '70s-era camp like this, so younger movie watchers might get bored, but it's worth it to see Linda Blair in a non-possession role. (We always wished her career has gone a bit farther than it did. Alas.) Screens at 7 p.m. (followed by Skatetown, U.S.A. at 9 p.m.) at the Castro Theatre; $6-9.

-- Del Tha Funky Homosapien: Sure, hip hop is kinda over but Ice Cube's cousin always delivers the goods. Devin the Dude, Coughee Brothaz, and Bukue One also perform. Show starts at 9 p.m. at Slim's; $19, 22.

-- The 2904 Motorized Vehicular Tournament: Basically, it's a Cannonball-ish type race starting in New York and ending here in SF, but the drivers are given a stiped in $2,904 for the race's entirety. The finishing-line reception, which also features artwork by Craig Lima, starts at 7 p.m. at Classic Cars West; free.

-- Manicato: SF Latin-rock at its finest -- a group we like so much, we're recommending them again. See, you feel like you're stoned while listening to them, even when you're stone-cold sober. And we mean that in the best way possible. They perform with La Colectiva starting tonight at 9 p.m. at the Elbo Room; $7.

Rollerboogie is tolerable, but have you ever tried to sit through Skatetown USA? It's torture, Scott Baio notwithstanding. I've never seen so many people leave a theater, and I've reviewed independent lesbian animation festivals.

Are any of these events held in or near buildings with escalators? I think for our saftey you need to flag this in future.
