Heres something for you to think about. this guy was paroled to la if i remember right. Now a condition of parole is that the parolee can not travel outside of thier area by more than 50 miles without a pass from thier agent that they must carry with them. If they are stopped by the police withour thier "trip papers" it is a violation and they can be placed in jail unitl thier agents speakes with them to finid out why they were out of thier area. So if this guy was stopped he could have been violated.

Now the SF Sheriffs dept will not hold anyone in thier jail on a 3056 hold (a parole violation like the one i just described) So now anyone who wants to run can come to Sf and hang out. The Sheriff will also not keep them if they commit any misdemenors they will be cited out. These are parolees who have agreed to give up certin rights we all have in order to get out of prison early. Not many peole have heard about these new rules but if they did im sure the Shreiff would change his mind.

One bizarre twist in this incredible near-tragedy is the current anguished discussion about whether mentally ill people can be forced to take their meds. Of course, this guy was in a situation where he COULD have been forced to take his meds without question, but the prison folks (those are the ones who make vastly more than our public-school teachers) were too incompetent to notice that he was flamingly insane and dangerous.

I'm the mom of a student at the high school across the street from the site where the attack happened, and the immediate panic in our school community was whether it was one of our kids, since they're always in that bakerly. We feel like this poor girl took the bullet for one of them, so it really gets to us.
