"mess of sounds" - ha, exactly what I was getting at but trying to say it in a nicer way! ;)

Now I am really sad I missed Matt Nathanson. My wife wasn't feeling well and since it was Ingrid and Melee's press people that contacted me I didn't have to necessarily review his part of the show (even though he headlined!) Now I wish I would have stayed :( It sounds amazing....

Thanks for the detailed description!

Just to note, the concert Ingrid and Melee opened for was for one of San Francisco's own - Matt Nathanson.

Ingrid was awesome - I had purchased her cd earlier in the week to get an idea of her songs and I'm so glad I did. A new fan, right here.

Melee.. was a mess of sounds only to be outdone by the screaming of the teenage fans that almost out of nowhere crowded the front of the stage. Thankfully they all ran away to go meet the band and let us Matt Nathanson fans resume our positions. Melee didn't really bother to connect with the audience - at least those that had no idea who they were.

Matt Nathanson, since you didn't really review his part of his show -- was awesome as always. His set covered 3 or 4 of his albums, including bringing Ingrid back on stage for a duet of "Loud". He sang for roughly 2.5 hours with only one casualty (one string snapped, but have no fear, plenty of guitars to use!) Mixed with his usual hilarious self, he performed (as he often does) "Don't Stop Believin'" for an audience sing-along. That show was a milestone for Matt as he mentioned to the audience he's played plenty of times in the lounge, opening for other bands - but his goal one day was to have a sold out show at The Fillmore, and that night he accomplished that.
