Arrests Made in the Halloween Slaying of Teen Rachael Ray Admirer

Although we're not sure at this point whether or not Ichinkhorloo "Iko" Bayarsaikhan's assailant is in custody, according to CBS 5, "at least three boys were taken into custody Tuesday morning after police developed several leads and served multiple search and arrest warrants...as many as five people were taken into custody at one of the search warrant locations."

If you remember way back last week, 15-year-old Ichinkhorloo Bayarsaikhan was shot and killed at Washington Park during a botched robbery attempt while kicking it with some friends. The group of boys responsible for her shooting escaped on a bus, but now it seems that some or all of them have been caught. We'll update in the arrests when we know more.

Also, the Chronicle keeps reminding us that she emulated TV "chef" Rachael Ray, but we would like to think that Bayarsaikhan one upped her idol, making food that was tasty and digestible.

make that tasty, digestible, and lacking in annoying catchphrases.

This is a horrible story. I'm glad some arrests were made.

two big wins for the police this week. way to go guys. some of us really appreciate you.

Guys, check your headline. In your rush to make other media outlets look like idiots, you yourselves come off as crass and snide. Referring to a 15-year-old girl who was shot in the back during an attempted robbery as a "teen Rachael Ray admirer" sounds pretty darn belittling to me.

Thought this story is very tragic, things that don't make sense to me:

1. At 10pm, why are there kids in a park that closes at 6pm? Definitely not trick or treating.

2. Are they sure that these kids did not know each other? That it was not a fight? A meet up of two groups that did not like each other? Washington park is usually empty at 10pm...not a very logical place to wait for victims to rob.

3. Six guys against a 10+ group? Typical robberies don't work that way. It just doesn't make sense.

Oakland homicides go unsolved all the time. In this 1st homicide of the year for Alameda, the police and media are all over it. That's just not fair.

Yes a girl was accidentally murdered in "attempt" robbery and that is all very sad. But look deeper between the lines. It doesn't seem as simple as they say.
