SFist Tonight (All Hallow's Eve Edition)

hellgate_front.jpg

So much to do, so much not to do. What's a girl to do? Well, here is just a smattering of what's going on tonight. (An aside, is there any reason to buy bags of fun-size candy anymore to hand out to costumed tykes? We haven't seen a trick-or-treater in ages. Sob.)

-- Hellgate Halloween: Vice magazine (SF's no. 1 fan) is throwing a bash with a complimentary bar (!) and tunes by Chromeo and DJs Franki Chan and Omar. Starts at 10 p.m. at Fat City; RSVP.

-- Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978): If you're feeling like you need to throw down some serious cash tonight in a yuppie-safe civilized setting, head over to Foreign Cinema. Tonight they screen the best version of IOBS, ever. Philip Kaufman's take on the sci-fi tale was filmed here in SF, and the ending is super creepy. Starts at dusk, Foreign Cinema.

-- Truck Stop Hooker Ball & Throw Down: Hosted by Juanita & Suppositori Spelling, this Mission District bash features a costume contest at midnight (Best Truck Stop Hooker Drag, Best Butch Male Trucker Drag, Best All-Around Halloween Costume) and DJ Underdog hitting the decks. Starts at 9 p.m. at Truck; free.

-- Death of Castro Halloween Funeral Procession: As we already mentioned earlier today, Halloween is dead. Come mourn with your SF brethren. And be sure to "bring black cardboard coffins, dress in dark clothing, [and] bring a red rose for the burial." Starts at 6 p.m. at the Robert Frost Statue on Beale & Market.

-- Skate Halloween Night with the Black Rock Roller Disco: Roller skate like no one is watching at this speedy downtown skate party. Goes from 8 p.m. to midnight, Ferry Plaza at Market and the Embarcadero; free.

-- Halloween: A Party: Mash-up stars Adrian & the Mysterious D as well as Midnight Mass's Dupuy help Heklina and Peaches Christ host this most rocking SOMA party. Starts at 9 p.m. at Cat Club; $12-20.

The comments on Vice's page about this are pretty much amazing - http://vice.typepad.com/vice_magazine/2007/10/san-francisco--.html

Love it. They're SF's very own Jan Brady!
