Your SF Halloween Night Closures

Why aren't you hiding under the covers yet? The city doesn't want to so much as hear you breathe come tomorrow. So, start upending those floorboards and crawling into that dank attic, or Gavin and Bevan will be coming to get you, Barbara.

"We are praying for a peaceful evening, but are preparing for the worst," says Newsom. No, he's not talking about election night (heh, eh), but Halloween night. Which brings us to your public transit issues for the big, non-spooky evening. Here are a few main closures happening tomorrow night:

-- The 16th Street-Mission BART station will close at 8pm.
-- Muni customers wishing to transfer to BART can take the 14-Mission south to 24th Street-Mission BART, or use one of the downtown BART/Muni stations (Civic Center, Powell, Montgomery, Embarcadero) to transfer to or from BART.
-- Church, Castro, Forest Hill, and West Portal stations will completely close at 8:30 p.m.
-- The F-Markret will run as a bus service.
-- Buses are subject to re-route away from the Upper Market area if traffic conditions require this. (?)

So, don't go to the Castro. Why? 34 reasons are that Because Dufty managed to get 34 establishments -- including every bar in the neighborhood but one -- to close down for the night.

Anyone know which one? We might need a safe space to run to while we're kicking it in the Castro tomorrow night. You see, SFist will be there coming at you live with regular updates of all the absolutely-nothing-going-on-whatsoever action -- e.g., 8:45 p.m.: pants soaked with urine, could not find bathroom; 8:55 p.m.: 18th and Castro immolated; 9:12 p.m.: received third stab wound of the night; 9:34 p.m.: grandma is calling to us; going toward the light.

But you will remain at home with all the lights off, right? Right.

I heard that it was Harveys remaining open, but not sure of that. You can come to my house to pee Brock...;-)

According to the Examiner, there might be a bus re-route if "unsanctioned gaiety" develops...with a phrase like that I just might turn my plans of Nothing into some sort of Unsanctioned Gaiety because after all, that's the best kind of gaiety there is. I think I'll be saying "unsanctioned gaiety" all day long now...

im in ur castro, causing unsanctioned gaiety...

With public transport so messed up, is anyone else worried about a bunch of drunk drivers out there tomorrow night?

Oh wow.
Best. Phrase. Ever. "Unsanctioned Gaiety" Bet that one wasn't on Gav's PowerPoint.

People, Polk Street is the new Castro for Halloween. Spread the word!

I chuckle to see the signs and handouts - as if the troublemakers are literate or something, puhleeze.

The place to put the signs is on the freeway messageboards, like when they closed the bay bridge. Since the bad guys are all B&T anyway, maybe they will see them.

Harvey's eh? Need to make a point of it.

Also, is the N Judah still running, and if so, will it still stop at duboce park??? Makes a mockery of no muni to the castro if it is. Everybody can just transfer to it at van ness, get off at duboce park and walk down noe street to market, and be right where the shooting took place last year.

I believe it Badlands that's staying open

nope, badlands decided to close. Something about repeated visits from Fire Marshalls.

according to the latest info the N will stay open as normal. But they might just go for a 19th Avenue-style screw up and just pass the stop by to avoid the "gaiety."

then again, MUNI changes its mind so often hell they might have it stop just for laughs.

either way I am staying out of town that night. when the riot happens and the City is caught with its pants down (and not in a good way) I want to be as far away as possible, just like when I left Seattle during WTO!

oh and brock this line:

9:34 p.m.: grandma is calling to us; going toward the light.

was hilarious! But would grandma call to you with pee on your pantleg?

Oh, it is going to be fun. I am going to have to, like, actualy cook something tomorrow night as so many places will be closed.

badlands is closing at 10pm.

I'm sure this will turn out well, just like when Willie Brown shut down Critical Mass.

BTW if they bring the water trucks, no one will need porta-potties. Just keep your mask on.

Unsanctioned Gaiety is the best kind.

Sanctioned Gaiety is boring. With or without the lights on.
