The ongoing battle between feral cat lovers and wild bird lovers in Golden Gate Park continues, but these days there are fewer feral felines out there. Why's that? See you after the jump.

Controversial Trap, Neuter and Return policies might have had an effect in reducing the wild cat population in San Francisco. Read about the program here. If your feral cat has a tipped or notched ear, chances are it's been fixed.

Another theory of the apparent population decline is the presence of coyotes in Golden Gate Park.

One supporter of this idea would be BlogSpot's Cat Defender, who is into "Exposing the Crimes of Bird Lovers, Wildlife Proponents, PETA, Exterminators, Vivisectors, the Scientific Community, Fur Traffickers, Cloners, Breeders, Designer Pet Purveyors, Hoarders, Motorists, the United States Military, and Other Ailurophobes." Or something like that.

Anywho, CD don't don't like dem coyotes. (And hey, nice picture you have there of the coyote in Golden Gate Park, Cat Defender. Bet you used your Canon 1D Mark II with EF 300mm 2.8L IS and 2x Extender II from 50 yards away. Or something like that.)

We've seen some of those feral cat feeders in the park over the years. It's not that expensive -- you can keep a colony going for something like $40 worth of Costco kitty food a month.

But lately, we don't see very much at all of feral cats, feral cat feeders, or coyotes for that matter. How about you? What have you seen along these lines the past three months in Golden Gate Park?

The feral cats are getting caught in the crossfire of the increasing gang violence in SF. It's the Mayor's fault.

i can haz heroin needlez?

The homeless cats are probably refusing services to be placed in permanent housing by social workers.

What you are completely leaving out is escalating cycle of cat on cat violence.
