But, Muni, try limiting our wait. (Ha! Oh stop!)
SFist reader, Cior sent us this image she snapped up while waiting for the N-Judah this morning. 60 minutes for a 10 a.m. N-Judah seems a bit inexcusable.
What's more, she called her boyfriend to see what NextMuni had to say online. Smart move. The site claimed arrivals at 1, 2 and 3 minutes. After waiting for over five, she went ahead and caught a Haight bus. Hear that? She had to ride a Haight Street bus, folks. We wouldn't wish the 7 or 71 (or at times, even the 6) on our worst enemies.

this picture looks like an excelent candidate for one of those "Where in SF was this picture taken?" contests.
my guess is Cole and Carl.
what do i win? I missed the Zombie Fest a few weeks ago. I'm waiting for the gathering at Dolores Park to see how many people we can simultaniously get to blow their bubble gum at the same time while saving energy by turning off our electrical appliances and serving food from the local taqueria to homeless people all at once.
it's a good thing we have prop a coming along to guarantee the drivers a minimum salary for doing such a fine job.
fucktards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
MUNI sucks. I agree, that pic is Carl & Cole.
I ride the 7/71/6 twice each day. The Haight Street buses do indeed suck ass. Waiting forever for the PACKED-to-the-GILLS N sucks equal ass. Is the environment worth this torture that we endure every single insulting day on our Coaches of Pestilence?
[aaaaahgh, now you've got me all wound up about MUNI! aaaaghhgh!] *runs into wall, falls down*
thanks, brock.
Good work, innersunsetfog and Shibi -- twas Carl & Cole.
The local newspapers here lie to protect the city officials. On the day that the Muni Workers had a 'sick out' day, they said all service was normal...
Very misleading because I was waiting for the N-Judah INBOUND in the and we got kicked off of the train twice !! And I was late by an hour to get down to the Civic Center Station.
So, 'service was normal' and yes, the service really sucks.... This is NOT rocket science stuff to move a bunch of trains around a set of tracks... the problem is likely the quality of people that are working there.
With ZERO SAFE AFFORDABLE HOUSING we have a severe shortage of local, loyal San Franciscans doing these jobs. Instead, we have people commuting hours every day, burning up time and gas to come in to work each day. They are often under-qualified and burnt out by the daily commute and the depressing reality that Our Mayor and Our City Officials REFUSE TO BUILD SAFE AFFORDBALE HOUSING and this is killing the quality of life and the quality of the services we get here in Our City.
SOLUTION: Make Safe Affordable Housing the Top Priority so our workers can get enough sleep and cut down their stress levels so they can do a better job serving all of our needs....

your comment is blatantly racist. are you inferring that public transit workers are otherwise incapable of doing a good job unless they recieve government subsidies or rent control?
personally, i take offense to this because not only do i burn up time, though not necessarily gas, my commute is oftentimes upwards of an hour, and i live IN the city! Yet, i still manage to get to work and do a good job. Is my employer responsible for ensuring that i have affordable housing within walking distance of my office? i think not.
your gesture, although good spirited, is ultimately racist.
perhaps "those people"s real issue with their jobs is the constant pandering they are subjected to at the hand of people like you.
Doesn't the 38 Geary have the distinction of Worst Muni Line Ever? No, I guess you're right. The 38 drivers don't get to play that always fun game of lurch-n-brake up a hill.
You folks in the Inner Sunset and Cole Valley are spoiled.
For us out here in the Outer Sunset (40th Ave and West) have a 60 minute commute once the train arrives. We don’t even have the option of taking the 6, 7 or 71. The express buses only run during peak commute hours. So those of us who have to be at work in the financial district at 6:00 or 7:00 in the morning have to budget out 1.5 hours to get to work and hope the train doesn’t break down.
The 38, 6, 7, or 71 are hardly the worst routes in San Francisco. Not even close to worse!

How on earth was his comments “racist”?
He made no reference to race what so ever. Keep in mind, I know plenty of MUNI drivers. Many of them were born & raised in San Francisco and their families owned there own homes right here in San Francisco. Yes it was their own property but many of them sold their homes for pennies on the dollar to live in a bigger and cheaper house out in Vallejo and Fairfield. So please tell me, whose fault is that?
Honey, I live east of 40th and it STILL takes me an hour to get downtown on the L... longer to get home.
Heh, try living down in Oceanview. My choices are either the M (takes forever, always stuck in traffic on 19th avenue), the 54 (wooo! It goes to Bayview!), or taking the 28 up 19th avenue and getting a transfer to another bus. Technically I guess you can stay on the 28 and end up in the Marina, but only if you're willing to let it take well over an hour and go to the Golden Gate first, but why in the hell are you going to the Marina anyway?
Let's face it, there isn't a single place in the city that has decent bus service, but some places are definitely better than others.
The further ability of transit to attempt to do much more than drag people downtown and back also means that people are discouraged from leaving their neighborhoods. Unless you're prepared to switch between a couple of buses and wait forever it's almost never worth it. I mean, why can't I find a bus that will reasonably take me from the Haight to the Mission? Or North Beach to the Castro? We need to improve service for the buses we have, but we also need a lot more cross-town buses that will let us move between neighborhoods effectively.
innersunsetfog,
How exactly is rankedchoice racist? Ze did not mention anyone's race in hir post. It sounds to me like you are the racist, since i have seen all races represented by the workers of MUNI. Are you really saying that only one race is allowed to work at MUNI? They are Morlocks, obviously.
Perhaps you meant "classist" which would have been (more) accurate.
It sucks being so Politically Correct, doesn't it?
Haight to the Mission? The 33!
Which would be awesome if it was reliable.

The L Taravel is a shorter route time wise even though it's longer in distance. The L-Taravel spends more time in the tunnel and less time on the street level unlike the N-Judah.
When the L Taravel comes out the West Portal station, it's already at 14th avenue. The N-Judah is at street level many blocks before the avenues even start. It's the street level service that is slow.

Some parts of the city has excellent service. Anywhere along the BART lines as well as the Castro have excellent service.
Castro has the K, L, M, N, J, F, S, T as well as many bus routes that pass through. Many of them still complain about the crowded trains. So what if they are crowded once it arrives at the Castro station or Church & Duboce, at least they have a very short commute under 15 minutes.
I may get a seat every morning out here at 45th Avenue but my commute is an hour, sometimes more. I'd much rather spend that time sleeping in my bed. I'd much rather have a crowded train with a 10 minute commute.
We've done worst/best muni lines - how about a poll on the most awkward parts of town to get between via muni.
I'm currently pondering getting from the Haight to North Beach (Bimbo's, to be precise). It's either downtown then a 30 through chinatown, which is going to take forever, or via the Presidio (!) on the 43 and 30.
I live in the Outer Sunset, 1 mile from the L and a half mile from the N. I generally walk the mile to the L, because the faster train more than makes up for the extra walking time.
I wouldn't even consider taking the "stops at my doorstep" 71 line downtown, because it is far too slow.
When I type this out, it seems ludicrous that I should walk an extra 2 miles (rountrip) for a faster commute. But ludicrous is perhaps an apt description of Muni.
