Cardboard Tube Fight Tournament

-- This could very well be the most exciting extracurricular activity in the world, ever. Next to building a fort out of couch cushions and blankets, that is. (Why, yes, we are in fact five-years-old. Thank you.)
Her's the deal: Simply show up, receive your free cardboard tube, and start whacking away at your fellow Bay Area residents with impunity. So simple. Really, this needs to happen at least once a week.
When: Sunday, 10/28
Where: Justin Herman Plaza, 1 Market Street (at Embarcadero Plaza)
Time: 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. (rain or shine)
Site: CTFL

oh lord.
It'll be much more effective if you put something inside the cardboard tube.
e.g. pebbles, rocks, bricks, lead weights.
Would attending this event conflict with my "making fun of the SCA/Ren Faire people" philosophy?
i say we replace the cardboard tubes with real swords freshly sharpened, but not change the name of the leage so that only the kind of people who would show up to such a thing will be the only participants.
i think it's safe to say that this isn't much overlap between this event and Ren Faire/Burning Man garbage. i mean, you get to hit people. only fun can come of that. (though i wouldn't bother dressing up in costume.)
Anyone notice this is at the exact same spot (Justin Herman Plaza) as the mass pillow fight?
Quinton Mecke is going DOWN.
How do all the various prankster groups coordinate so they don't double book the City's public spaces?
Imagine if I'd organized my ironic cowboy shootout for the same time...
Holy shit, this looks fun. Do you think they'll hit each other hard or is this just a fun goofing around thing? I'm a wuss. I want to participate, but not if it means getting clobbered. :-(
What is best in life? To crush your enemies. To see them driven before you. And to hear the lamentations of their women.
-Conan the Barbarian.
Totally.
I am so there!
Hopefully I will replacement tubes, as I smash 'em up!
Did these people not have a childhood? Oh, I just answered my own question.
Hm, I was thinking of those heavy cardboard poster-shipping tubes.
I'm going to hope these are more like the weak gift wrap tubes.
Either way, IT'S ON.
So, has anyone else noticed that Justin Herman Plaza is occupied with the trucks and construction of the season ice rink right now? Yeah, um, not quite the same amount of room as might otherwise be available for this event ... I'm just sayin'....
I say we add a "swift kick to the ass" competition on MUNI for the idiots who toss trash/food scraps/nail clippings/crap du jour on the floor, piss on the seats and cause mayhem at the back of the bus.
There is a request for a tournament in San Diego from some residents. They could use a little levity - and a frustration outlet.
Any organizers willing to help?
