Looks like we're in a heapin' load of trouble as those who like to get outraged at us are outraged again. Or, at least something the Archbishop of San Francisco did.
Last weekend, while conducting mass, the Archbishop was giving communion when up came two people "wearing bizarre makeup and costumes, including one dressed in a parody of a nun's habit." Hmm…couldn’t that also describe the Pope? Anyways, the "offenders" in question, of course, were members of the Sister of Perpetual Indulgence. So Archbishop George Niederauer gave them communion.
Fox News, of course, immediately hopped on it with noted windbag Bill O'Reilly leading the way, giving it the full "Talking Points" treatment. After listing our litany of past crimes, he claimed it was another display of us San Franciscans, or, as he calls us, "far left secular-progressives who despise the military, traditional values and religion" disrespecting religion. He then goes on to rail against Newsom and Nancy Pelosi for not coming out and condoning the behavior. He also mentions that Newsom keeps on being invited to "the Factor" but for some reason, refuses to go on the show. Meanwhile, emails have been sent to the Archdiocese complaining about it.
As for the Archbishop, the Archdiocese is using the old "confused old man" excuse and saying that he didn't know what to do when the two Sisters came up for communion. It has also been noted that he has made a series of "mistakes," mainly being pro-Gay and pro-child molestation. Meanwhile, a note has been sent to the Vatican about Archbishop's Niederauer actions in hopes the Vatican would remove him.
The Sisters, meanwhile, sent out a thank you note to the parish bulletin for being so hopsitable and open to them.

Technically, I suppose it's a violation of Canon 844 §1: "Catholic ministers administer the sacraments licitly to Catholic members of the Christian faithful alone, who likewise receive them licitly from Catholic ministers alone..."
But I don't see how a Catholic person can criticize the Archbishop for making Christ present in as many lives as possible.

It is the most wonderful catholic church I have ever been in. An incredible congretation and more faith and belief in that church then any other I have ever been in. Pity the sisters only show up when the cameras are there.

Besides, who's to say they're not Catholic?
Because they take a very tongue-in-cheek (oh, I am funny!) approach to their personae, a lot of people don't know that the Sisters are actually a serious community service organization. Apparently it takes years of service before they can don the habit.
Randimoid, I believe Mariconsoy is using wit, sarcasm and irony to point out the hypocrisy of the whole affair. Example, "Damn those homosexuals out of the catholic church!" says the pope as he stamps his red Prada slipper on the floor and pats his handsome manservant on the bottom.
Fox News and the knuckleheads on there wouldn't know freedom and "Christianity" if it kicked them in the teeth ... San Francisco is clearly one of the most free Cities in the world, and also one of the most embracing of the poor, the sick, and so on - Bill O'Reilley is the anti-freedom whacko.

Oh puleeze...ask the conservative christians what they think about catholics in any context but this and you'll find them just as condemned to the hotplace below as any other non-fundy no matter how they're dressed. Isn't there a commandment about bearing false umbrage?
They can make fun of SF all they want. The only time I see red state churches on the news is when they've had one of their traditional family Sunday murder-suicide gun ramapages.

A few years back I saw a very young woman totter down the center asile at Old St. Marys at 6:00 AM mass in her 5' spiked heels, red micro mini skirt, cropped pink tube top "Monica Lewinsky" hairdo and too much mascera. She wasc bviously just off her shift working the streets. Father gave her communion along with the rest of us. Sorry Trad Rads, that's how it's supposed to be.
I have always been amused and entertained by clowns. From the antics of Red Skelton to the comic relief of Whoopie Goldberg. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are no more or less a comedic troupe of "clowns" out to entertain and raise much needed monies for various chartable organizations. They no more intend to offend the Catholic Church any more or less than the Keystone Cops were out to offend law enforcement officers or the cast of Saturday Night Live dressing and impersonating public figures in comical skits. Although the later donned costumes and performed comical skits to line their own pockets or simply make a living. The Sisters of PI should not be taken seriously, except when it comes to fund raising and they as "Clowns" are accepted as just that..... Clowns. Not a religious organization... But a troupe of wonderful clowns entertaining for worthy and charitable causes. Now as for Bill O'Reilly, Well he's the funniest clown of them all...and as with the Sisters of PI, shouldn't be taken any more seriously.... Thats entertainment folks!!!
