Eeee: Radiohead's Latest Effort Is Out

in%20rainbows.jpg

Should we even bother going over to Limewire-- er, should we even bother downloading "In Rainbows" today? Judging by the title, it sure sounds pretty. And we like us some Radiohead.

Any track preferences? Differences on cost? Let us know.

UPDATE: it looks like any album fee in contributory. Well, how about that. Huh.

Having trouble downloading the album? Read Michael Calore's informative troubleshooting post here.

It's played twice today. The album as a whole sounds fantastic. It didn't have my undivided attention as I was working, BUT I made several mental notes on several tracks. Reckoner, Nude and All I Need are among my favs so far. Nothing jumped out like: "Oh, this is annoying." I can't wait to get to know this album better.

So much good music as of late... New Radiohead, Most Serene, Band of Horses....

I have not downloaded it, but some twerp did a piece on this album and what it all means this morning on NPR. The fade-out music, which I'm assuming is a track from this release, really struck me as lovely.

The disc (album? download?) is kinda weird...kinda mellow...kinda warm...and kinda pretty. Lots of strings and actual melodies and no experimental tape looping and Videotape kinda curls into your brain and stays there long after you listen to it. Not the kind of Radiohead thingamabobber you listen to if you wanna be angsty or depressed or pissy but more like the kinda thing you want to listen to while kicking back and watching the sunset with a bottle of wine.

I like it alright, but I'm not prepared to say anything about how it stacks up against their other records. I feel like the sound's a little flat, given that it's a download. I ordered the boxset, so I'm hoping that the actual CD has richer sound.

So far I like "Nude" and "Reckoner" the best. I really don't like "All I Need" or whatever it's called.

The download site appears to be working much better this morning. Well worth a listen.

you really needed to go to Wired to get that image?
