The Airbus is coming! The Airbus is coming!

Do these words excite you? If so, details of today's Golden Gate Bridge flyby (low and slow - the way you like it) after the jump.

Update: It came and went, photo on next page.

Aviation journalist Todd Lappin just hepped us to the details of today's events.

"ATTENTION BAY AREA PHOTOGRAPHERS!
Telstar Logistics has learned that the A380 will do a low and slow flyby over the City of San Francisco on Friday, October 5, between 2:30 and 3 pm, just before the Blue Angels begin their practice flight at 3 o'clock. We're told that the A380 will approach via the Golden Gate Bridge before making an arc over Alcatraz and flying past downtown and the Bay Bridge. Bring your zoom lenses, and be there, Be There, BE THERE!"

So let's get out there and welcome the new ruler of the skies.

Also, check out some new photos of Blue Angels jet madness here.

Update: Here it is:

Good bye, big metal bird. Come back soon.

We flew back from Spain on a newish Iberia A340-600. Very nice, quiet plane. 31 inch seat pitch and quiet enough you don't need earplugs.

Then we transferred in Chicago to the real "air bus", a noisy Reagan-era Super-80 with trash on the floor, screaming kiddies, and 29 inch seat pitch. Well, it didn't crash and our bags arrived, so we got our money's worth.

That's a new bottled water from France: Avion.
