I witnessed an entire schoolyard of children at the Sunnyside School, screaming every time a jet passed over. They didn't sound like screams of joy to me.

What's wrong is that this is a densely populated area. What's wrong is when one of these planes crashes, it will kill hundreds and hundreds of people. What's wrong is that the majority of people who come in for Fleet Week and enjoy this spectacle aren't from here, it's the people who live and work in San Francisco who must be subjected to this noise and danger, isn't it time we stopped taking this risk for these tourist dollars?

P.S. I just came back from Golden Gate Park as these planes were flying overhead, witnessed a group of crying babies all covering their ears, God bless America.

Clearly, if the Blue Angles want to be embraced by Chris Daly and his crowd, they need to get out of their planes and start urinating and defecating all over our sidewalks. Then light up a crack pipe and scream at ordinary citizens just trying to get to work. THEN the Chris Daly crews will support them.

What is wrong in this city?

Well, my flight departure was delayed for nearly an hour today because of air traffic limitations to accomodate the Blue Angels practice today. This was a new, fun reason to sit in a plane, not going anywhere.

My little Johnny was watching them this morning and asked,

"Daddy Daddy do the 'publicans and the president own those?"

>No, son they belong to the taxpayers like me.

>>Oh goodie daddy! Will you please make them blow up? They too loud"

> No son, they do that on their own, just watch!"

I agree with DG. I see lots of similarities between the anti-Blue Angels crowd and the citizens of Berkeley who are supporting the city's war against the Cal football program because, gosh darn it, they don't like football and they want to force their preferences upon everyone else.

I find all the complaining very tiresome. Especially when much of it is very hypocritical.

Obviously opposition to the Blue Angels comes in many ways, shapes and forms, but it seems that overwhelmingly it is from the progressive/anti-military side of things. The same people who complain about NIMBYism when it comes to street fairs, Halloween, etc. display an extreme case of the nimbies here.

So you don't like it? Put on a pair of ear phones, or go camping for the weekend. I don't like having to spend an extra 45 minutes getting home on the days of critical mass, but I deal. That's the trade off one makes for living in such a wonderful place with so many things going on all the time.

The Blue Angels are clearly popular with many people in the City / Bay Area, so why ruin their fun just because you don't agree ideologically or think it is too loud?

Just my $0.02.

All this SF lefty bitching and moaning is just passive-aggressive refusal to admit that, subconsciously, it's exciting to see and hear all this zooming around. Come on, admit it.

There is some kind of psychological effect, because during my stroll down market today at lunch hour all the homeless people were exited and more deranged than usual. I even feel a slight need to bark and howl at all the racket.

Woof!

Now that I've read that sfgate article, I know it makes me a baby-eating commie to say so but yeah low-flying planes (military or otherwise) blasting over my head make me cringe.

Heck, I keep wondering if the regular airport traffic doesn't seem to be flying lower and lower in recent years-I swear I can almost make out the airline names now.

After watching Ken Burns "The War" every night for the last week, it has been somewhat disconcerting sitting at my desk downtown with the sound of them going by all of the time.
