Must be new to the area! Haha!

Soon enough Mitsubishi-man will learn what shitty people we are in this town.

If there is one thing you can count on, there will always be someone here to laugh at your misfortune, and to blame you when you become the target of criminals... because anyone with a roof over their head and a job must be a "right-winger," and it's only "justice" when a right-winger like you gets ripped-off by some poor, misunderstood criminal.

And, absolutely he should be laughed at for thinking the sign would get him his stuff back! He will learn soon enough not to have any faith in the goodness of people, and then he'll be joining the rest of us, snickering behind the back of the person who was stupid enough to believe they could park their car in "that neighborhood" (insert any SF neighborhood here) and not get their windows smashed for no reason.

Mutta:
When someone writes "Must be new to the area" on a sign about stolen items, it is mean. The tagger is bragging about knowing more than the victim and seems to be delighted by their misfortune. After having my houses and cars broken into for so many years here, the black humor just rings hollow now.

Brock didn't write that on the sign. It's the sign I'm commenting on.

You asked "why do you people even read SFist?".

SFist was made for people like me.

I look forward to reading SFist every day. Also, San Francisco is my home town. My grandmother was in the 1906 Earthquake & I was in the 89 Earthquake. I contribute breaking news photos and news info to SFist. So I'm a pretty big fan. Why do you want me to stop reading it?

It must have been some really important item that was stolen.

Maybe it was the laptop that had the private info about 800,000 people who had applied for jobs at Gap? The secret 5 year recruitment plan of the Gay Agenda?

Wait, I don't see how Brock is making fun of this person. In fact, publishing this on SFist brings it to a greater audience and a greater chance of the victim getting info.

I don't see any bragging here at all. Why do you people even read SFist?

"journalism" and "blogger" in the same comment. jesus. scary.

if anyone has info on the missing stuff, let us know and we'll gladly hand over the number or contact them ourselves. we covered up the number for obvious reasons.

So making public fun of someone's misfortune is now considered good journalism?

I guess haven't been paying attention, but wow, you blogger types are really cutting edge and like, so cool.

It's just mean to pick on people who are victims of crime especially if it's just to brag about being 'a local'.

Every time our cars or houses are broken into, we should put out a sign. Even a funny or ridiculous sign. This "get used to it sister" attitude skews things so it seems like it doesn't happen at all.
