Pike Place is a neighborhood? I'm from Seattle, and unless it was invented by realtors in the last 20 years, there is no such neighborhood.

North Beach makes me ill. We lived there for a year, and left as soon as our lease was up.

is that photo a beanie from those jive hipster cat days? I've lived here for 15 years and still haven't seen one of those on anyone in North Beach yet.

i subletted in North Beach/Telegraph Hill for six months. my impression overall: meh.

practically every New York City neighborhood has more to offer and is more interesting. various neighborhoods in this city itself are more comfortable to live in, and don't have that schizophrenic mix of locals vs. visitors.

it's like a closed loop, unlike, say, the Castro. once you're in North Beach, you're boxed in by water and can't easily hop over to the next community.
