I think this particular topic has shot Nancy Pelosi to the top of my "Democrats to watch out for, because they're going to RUIN America" list. Yes, there's a list. =)

what people don't seem to understand, sangfroid826, is that the part of the bill in question is "gender identity," not specifically transgendered people. think about the vast hole this creates. all it will take is the first butch woman or queeny man to get fired. corporate response: "we didn't fire john doe because he was gay [sexual orientation - protected], but because he didn't conform to acceptable male standards [gender identity - not protected]." what makes it dangerous for lgbtq people in the workplace is not that they're having sex with the someone of the same gender in their office, it's cuz they don't conform to the stereotypes of what a "normal" man or woman is supposed to look/act/speak like. and that falls under gender identity, not sexual orientation.

Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Barney knows what he's doing. 2008 is gonna be a motherfucker of a tidal wave in favor of the Democrats. Later, when have bigger majorities, we can piggyback a lot of legislation on the shoulders of what we've accomplished in 2007.
