Fire at Downtown SF Apple Store (Or Not)

Scanning Some Life this morning, we see that the Stockton Street Apple Store caught fire on Sunday morning at around 11 a.m.-ish. Or at least something inside the glassy box was used for kindling. Or an alarm went off. Or none of the above.

When we called the store today to confirm the small fire -- after waiting on hold, passed around, and spoken to in a hushed and somber tone -- they told us no. "Nothing like that happened," it seems. Not even a routine false alarm? No to that too. Strange. If a fire or an false alarm did happen, why deny such a thing, Apple Store geniuses? (Maybe we shouldn't have said that we were from SFist?)

maybe yet another Powerbook caught on fire?

Maybe the firetruck just showed up to rescue a kitten? A kitten that got stuck up an iMac?

All the stuff they make is from china, right?

Maybe some of the lead poisoned toys we had to send back got melted down and recycled into to an explosive motherboard...
