I can't think of any off the top of my head, but it seems like shows never even give it a chance to work. There are certainly shows whose very concept is a happy couple at the center, so it's not unfathomable. But just because Pam and Jim are happy together doesn't mean their whole lives will be happy. They're still stuck working at the Office, and the humor should come from that--a constant struggle to get the hell out of there, which doesn't necessarily happen quickly. Plenty of people stay at jobs they hate for a long, long time.

Rain, yeah, the Thin Man stuff was fun but I'm trying to remember a sitcom, or any tv show, in which a will they/won't they couple becomes a couple and the show still works. Can you think of a show where it worked? Rhoda? And isn't the point of "the Office" to be all about unfilfilled dreams that you never act upon. JAM kind of goes against the theme of the show, it'll be two people actually doing what they should do and be all happy about it, which isn't the point of the show. Or wasn't-- the Office has been getting a bit broader and more sitcommy as it's gone along.

The receptionist is GENIUS. She's the main reason I watch this show. And the other gay assistant. Those two steal the show. Hands down.

Rain, I hope you're right as. The "will they or won't they" storylines never make a show better (despite how they mastered it on "Cheers"). I still totally love Ugly Betty and her cute geek boyfriend (will they or won't they?) and her cute gay nephew and that genius actress who plays the receptionist (damn, can't remember the character's name either).

Totally! I am just looking forward to a forced, awkward Michael/Jan & Jim/Pam double date. You know that Michael is going to be super jealous of their relationship as he tries to manage his relationship with the coming train wreck that is Jan Levinson.

Actually, I really hope they don't go the old tired route of forcing strife into the relationship because it's supposedly more interesting to watch. Just because some characters are together and a happy couple does not instantly mean they are now boring. Has no one ever seen "The Thin Man" movies?
