Save the Barleycorn! Save the Barleycorn!

Seeing as how they have nothing else going on, this week the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will vote on a city proclamation honoring John Barleycorn Pub, calling for its preservation. The bar is set to close, and as already mentioned on Yelp, your local watering hole plays a large part in the aesthetics and feel of a neighborhood, so it's a good idea to pay attention to when these things start closing down around you. (Besides, you don't want this happening to your hood, do you?)

So, tonight at 7 p.m., bars throughout "downtown, [SOMA], Nob Hill and North Beach will pause and drink a toast to 'John Barleycorn and the Great Pubs of San Francisco.'"

(More info on volunteering and venue info after the jump.)

You can volunteer to help publicize the toast (go here for more info) or get sloppy drunk at one or more of the following pubs participating in tonight's Great Pub Toast:

John Barleycorn
Spec's (Adler St. Museum)
The Irish Bank
Lefty O'Doul's
Shanghai Kelly's
The Holy Grail
Vesuvio
Fiddler's Green
Kell's
O'Reilly's
Foley's
Dave's
