Oh No Ed Jew!: Suspended, Replaced
Mayor Gavin Newsom suspended Ed Jew today, (temporarily) removing him from office a little before 9 a.m. this morning at Waverly Place in Chinatown, according to the Chronicle. The young-ish Carmen Chu, 29, Newsom's deputy budget director, will fill Ed's seat for now.
"She’s been a senior member of the mayor’s budget office staff and been involved in the preparation of the city budget. She’s a homeowner in the Sunset, so it’s conceivable that she could be seated as of today’s meeting," said Gavin's lapdog, Supervisor Bevan Dufty, according to CBS5.

This Ed Jew story is my guilty pleasure, his ego and arrogance is out of this world!
Interesting move. She has the 'interim' tag so we'll see if this is permanent. Newsom put her out there (interimly) to see what kind of buzz she generates. This move is similar to Elsbernd, though he was meant to be permanent from the start.
It's all about whether or not she can beat Dudum (whom Newsom never wanted) in the next election. She is Asian, female, homeowner, Sunset - so some important demographics covered. She'll need to get herself to speed fast and develop a constituency, otherwise you'll see Dudum Mad! Dudum Smash! after next February.

A 29 year old homeowner doesn't seem that odd. Especially in the Sunset. I knew people around that age that were buying houses in the outer sunset and outer richmond during the dot-com boom. Its dreary living -- so much fog and rain and absolutely colorless -- but doable.

KCBS is reporting that she and her partner, a firefighter, own the house jointly. She also was candid enough to admit that she doesn't know a lot about District 4, but would learn as she goes along. At least she lives here.
So who is she?
Is her firefighter partner a woman? Then Gavin will have made a triple play- woman, asian, lesbian.

so she's a sunset homeowner. so is ed jew. still doesn't mean she actually lives there.
Oh. It's just that he really wanted this seat (even an article about him today), and will be quite ticked that Newsom appointed someone else. If Dudum wins next year (not impossible), he'll come in to City Hall with a bit of a grudge against Newsom.

Did you see the news video? Newsom chose Chu because she was Chinese (he stated this plainly). Newsom should have selected the peoples' choice, Ron Dudum (second to Jew by a scant 53 votes).
