SFist Photo: Come to the Autumn Moon Festival

Say what you will, but this fellow has become a master at handling these kinds of events. A useful skill to have.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom welcomes all and invites them to empty their pockets at the 17th Annual Autumn Moon Festival on Grant Avenue in Chinatown. Continues tomorrow Sunday from 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM. And there's also the Dragon Boat races at Treasure Island. So grab your moon cakes and get on out there. Should be a sunny day. More local autumnal color, after the jump.

SFPD chief Heather Fong with Bill Lee. The "cops gone wild" affair is hotting up again right now, but it's hard to tell exactly what's going on at this point. Seems there's always something going on around town.

MUNI chief Nat Ford assured all that the Central Subway is on its way.

Is Chinatown a kind of Disneyland? That's how some feel.

What does this say? We hope it's not "six foot white boy."

Is one of these events responsible for the fireworks Saturday night around 9pm? I live in Russian Hill and heard what had to be fireworks (or there was a war in the streets)...wondering what it was.

Oh man, why didn't the Gavin show up at last week's Autumn Moon Festival in the Sunset? Gav, you might have even run into Ed Jew!

I guess Gavin is good at something. Can we keep him on as some kind of ceremonial head of state that has no actual political power?

I just watched the Dan Noyles blog. Some pretty powerful statements made there.

WHY didn't NEWSOME wisit visit ED JEW's flower store when in Chinatown? TOO SCARED to face HONEST ED on his own turf?!

BOOOO to NEWSOME for WHITCHHUNT on ED JEW!!!!

Might want to check your sources. Newsom meet with Ed at his "home" in the Sunset. Are you saying that the Sunset is not Ed's turf?

In any case, Newsom is just playing politics. He should have removed Ed Jew the second the scandal came to light, rather than wait until now when he can hand pick the new supervisor. You'll note that none of the candidates that Newsom has in mind, as reported by the Chron, was one of the top vote getters in the district election.

Typical Willie Brown maneuver. Than again, that's how Newsom got this job as a supervisor in the Board, by being assigned by Brown. I guess some habits are difficult to break.
