#4, 6 is correct. You can write Chinese and read it but you speak Mandarin etc. If you've ever watched Chinese TV, they always have Chinese subtitles so if the spoken language in the show is "x" those speaking other Chinese languages can follow along. Since the chargers are made in China, I wonder what kind of disease causing ooze they are made out of? I'm always worried that mine will explode at night and burn my place down...

Not going to get into the Sinitic language (or language family, not to offend the touchy) here. Somebody mistook a double Gwen Stefani reference, that's all. Why doesn't lovely Gwen sing about Chinese stuff? Don't know. Maybe she'll start soon.

#4, there is NO such language as Chinese. Chinese is an ethnicity, not a spoken language. The Chinese speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and many other dialects of the previous two. But back to the topic. China has such a large economy and has such a large consumer base that it would be costly to not listen to not follow the government regulations.

iphones and blackberries already use the same type of charger. i have always hated the phone industry for making us buy seperate chargers for every phone.

Looks a little pricy for the whole system, but a a good solution for some people. http://www.radioshack.com/searchHandler/index.jsp?oos=true&nullCategoryId=2032155 I'm mostly concerned about phones, so having 4 or 5 chargers in the car is my solution for those long car trips. On a different matter, also have an old Samsung in the car. Good for calling 911 as a backup, should the need arise.

I don't get it. Why the japanese? Do you not realize that asia is full of different countries and different people/languages? China doesn't speak chinese. Apple is not a japanese company, neither is nokia. Stop the racist bullshit

Smart idea to do a universal product, but I think there might be some heavy resistance because each manufacturer has their own charger size/type monopoly. However, an easy way to get around the system is called iTips. They are sold at Radioshack. You buy a universal wall charger (also comes with air and auto), and you just buy a little tip and switch the tip when you need to charge another product.
