Oh No Ed Jew!: Please Mr. Postman
We just can't keep Ed down for a day. And we feel sorry for him at this point. Almost.
In addition to the nine state felony charges filed against him by La Kamala, according to the Chronicle, today the Feds charged Ed Jew "with mail fraud in connection with a scheme to solicit a bribe from a group of businessmen who needed city permits" for Quickly fine-dining establishments in the city. (And just like that like, we now must go get some of their nasty/tasty popcorn chicken.)
His bribe-scheming rear is going down. But seeing as how connected and notable he is, probably not. We'll see.

EJ is holding court at the Java Beach Cafe, even as I write. All three local TV stations and various other people with cameras were there at 2 pm. He was allowing pictures but no press questions. There were about 20 people inside, most appeared to be of Asian descent. I didn't stick around to ask him any questions because I was afraid that what came out of my mouth wouldn't be ladylike. Also, my camera batteries ran out.

Here's my question, and it's not meant to be rhetorical or accusatory-
This whole scheme, an administrative protection racket almost, seems un-original to me. Put simply, are we supposed to believe that Ed Jew came up with this idea all by himself? Or did he see someone else do it, or was he forced to do it himself for one of his businesses or properties?
If so, methinks a plea bargain may be in order.

Read the complaint. It's pretty strong. Though the mail fraud claim is a bit of a stretch, the fraud and bribery (state offenses) seem like a slam dunk.

my neighbor is fbi here in the city and took that call at the duty desk when the owners of quickly called in to complain about the extortion. i give him grief all the time about what was taking so long to get indictment out. now i see why. it's very extensive and thorough. he kept telling me they don't bother moving forward on stuff like this unless it's an open and shut case. jew is so done.
maybe now we can all agree the gavster can finally force this guy out of office with no argument from anyone on either side.
gavin asked him to resign. can't he legally remove him now too?

I hear on good authority that if he does not resign the Mayor will immediately suspend him.
Dang, he's fucked! And here I was giving him the benefit of doubt (re: the bribes, not the residency question), but like Frank Chu's sign used to say a while back, he's "guiltied"!
Doesn't it make sense to resign now and focus on saving his hide? Clearly, he wouldn't be able to perform his duties as Supervisor if he has to fight two and soon enough maybe three legal battles at once (civil action still pending). On top of that, if he requests for a change of venue in the federal case, he'll need to travel to another CA county on a regular basis and then who will represent District 4 every Tuesday?
Also, does anyone have a clue as to why his wife wasn't charged with anything? Seems as though she played a large behind the scenes role, i.e. admonishing "Associate #1" for discussing the bribe scheme with others.
And who was the mystery woman mentioned in the complaint? She was waiting for Ed Jew in his car right after he received the 40 G's in cash from the Quickly people. Could it be that he has a comare?
Does the FBI have an office in Burlingame so he can turn himself in there?

This is just so, well, amateur. Why on earth didn't you get some help from a professional fleece artist? You know, someone like Chris Daly, who managed to get something like $52 million for his friends and did it completely legally!
80 grand? That's chicken feed, Ed! And now the Feds are gonna assfuck you but good. Even the crooks of San Francisco are incompetent. So sad.
no big surprise he isn't resigning. he refused to meet with the gavster today without his lawyer either. please grow some gavin and remove him forcibly.
On TV, they're reporting that Gavin and Ed did have a private meeting today (Friday) and that they're going to meet again tomorrow.
