New Tunes Tuesday #1

Each Tuesday we will feature new music that should (or whatever) be on your radar.

Standouts:

1. Hard-Fi - Once Upon A Time in the West: They have already conquered the #1 spot on the UK Billboards - now let's see if they can do the same here in the U.S. The popular first single, "Suburban Knights" is a perfect sing-a-long with its memorable chorus and orchestrated strings. After one listen, it might hook you. The catchy yet powerful ballads and anthems throughout the album will make you crave for more, or at least we craved more. But be sure to download: "Suburban Knights," "Tonight," and "We Need Love"

2. Ingrid Michaelson - Girls & Boys: Fall TV is upon us. Grey's Anatomy has enlisted several new and upcoming indie artists to create the soundtrack to their character's lives. Michaelson's haunting love song, "Corner of Your Heart," played through the heart-wrenching closing scene where Meredith tells the crowd, "It's over." (Which might be in reference to her relationship with Derek, but I digress.) Michaelson was put on the national radar right-quick. Her indie-pop music screams for redemption, love and hope - a perfect soundtrack to anyone's life. Be sure to check out: "Corner of Your Heart," and "Breakable."

More after the jump....

Please Let Us Know What You Think About: 1. KT Tunstall - Drastic Fantastic: Love the album name. Hopefully it doesn't let us down - her first album was stellar.

2. Ben Lee - Ripe: We've been looking forward to this CD for months now.

3. The Polyphonic Spree - Live in Austin, TX: If they can capture the energy and boisterous live sound onto a CD then this one won't let you down.

4. Jamie Cullum - In the Mind of Jamie Cullum: What is in the mind of Jamie Cullum? Curious, but not sure if I want to know what's in there.

5. Matt White - Best Days: The world always needs a great singer/songwriter from New Jersey. Check out Best Days or Miracles.

6. James Blunt – All the Lost Souls: The new single, "1973" is not as catchy as his first hit, "Beautiful" but definitely still interested in listening to the rest of the album. If you haven't heard, Blunt will be performing this Sunday at Golden Gate Park.

Past Hits You Shouldn't Forget:

1. Tegan and Sara – The Con: Really, you should have already heard about this, but just in case you haven't, check out this Canadian sister-duo. They were in the city in July so hopefully a few of you got to check out their sold-out performance. If not, here's some audio links for "Back in Your Head" (WM Lo, WM High, QT Lo, QT High).

This Week's Beat-To-Death Pleasure:

1.Britney Spears - Gimme More: Really youtube user, itschriscrocker, said it best, "How f*cking dare anyone out there to make fun of Britney after all she's been through." You dared me, so I can't resist. Her CD was pushed back, so for several months, this is all we got. Thank God. To laugh, bust-a-move, secretly heart, maybe go insane or whatever you do when you listen to Britney's music, here's the link for the streaming audio(s).

Im a Classical Musician/Gardener and i have got to say that the Hard-fi Album is so far the best i have heard for a long time. Composition wise is perfect! and very catchy tunes that stick to your brains man.

I LOVE Ingrid Michaelson!! While I do watch Grey's Anatomy, I missed the last few episodes of last season so I hadn't heard her then. I saw her open up for The Magic Numbers at the GAMH in August and thought she was fantastic. Bought her album right from her hands!

The whole album is a gem - definitely check it out!
