Working at a big box retailer, I was surprised to find out that our holiday season was officially launched last monday (sept 10th). I can't imagine getting any holiday shopping done before December. Now my grandma on the other hand, already has her shopping lists written out, so maybe retailers pushing these things early isn't a total bust.

Just returned from Macy's in Stonestown. Christmas lives on the 1st (bottom) floor. Over 10 large Christmas trees, deocrated and lighted. Right next to the new Martha display - which is woefully lacking in content or substance. And in case anyone from Macy's drops by...why does this store always look like it is on the verge of closing? There is no "Cellar" to speak of at this location. Went to look for a blender and there were only four display models, no stock, lots of empty shelving everywhere. Clothing looks like past seasons or rejects from other stores. As I passed a couple on the upper floor he said to her "The place looks empty. Is this place closing or just neglected? Lets go to Nordstroms".

There's a store on 6th right next to the flower mart [same side of the street] that sells xmas stuff year round. I can't remember its name but it's really bizarre; full of gear for various out of season holidays. Lotsa plastic flowers and even wedding cake tops including boy-boy girl-girl.

I saw christmas creep at the Ross yesterday. Halloween is still a month away, and they're already trying to push out that stuff to make way for Christmas.

My favorite Christmas activity is to watch people trying to stuff massive televisions into the back of small cars on Christmas Eve at Sears. F**k Jesus' birthday.
