Shooting Outside The Lex Almost Startles Patrons

lexington.jpg
San Francisco's white-hot crime trend continues to soar. Early this morning, someone fired shots from a car on the 3400 block of 19th Street, landing two victims a stay in the hospital, according to the Examiner (via Bay City News, a service we love more and more). What's more::

It was kind of startling — everyone wanted to know what was going on,'' said Melissa Scott, a customer at Lexington Club, which is located near the site of the shooting. "But then it was just business as usual.

Awesome! Melissa, you sound like our kind of binge-drinking buddy. Such tenacity. We're so heading there tonight.

Eyes on the prize, Lexington ladies.

Brock,
You're not funny, you're offensive actually.
Please stop with the snark, it doesn't look good on you.
Thanks,
A sfist fan now teetering

"snark"

yup, still looks bad.

The post wasn't funny, but it was far from offensive. God, lighten up people. I walked past the scene last night, after much binge drinking, and basically had the same thought as the lesbos at the Lexington. Damn, another shooting. But I'm drunk, so I'll just keep walking. Business as usual.

Funny, it says on its website that the Lexington is a "friendly" dyke bar. Not so. I once wandered in there, a bit tipsy, and was met with some of the hardest looks in my entire life, just because I have a penis. All I wanted to do was to have a threesome, and that's how they treat you? The nerve.

i go there often, sport a penis, and have met some of the friendliest, most engaging ladies there, ever. just because they don't want to go home with a guy, doesn't mean they're at all rude.

I know, I was being "snarky." I do think the Wild West on Cortland is a friendlier dyke bar, though.

I, too, have experienced the anti-penis sentiment at the Lex. (Back when I was a noob I wandered in after tiring of the agro Kilowatt vibe. I didn't realize it was a dyke bar until waaay too late.) Nothing overt, just a vague stiffness that, in retrospect, was totally understandable.

But you know what? We have 574 other bars in the city, let the Sapphos have their space. I just wish the ladies would fly some rainbow colors so us heteros could respect the territory.

Conversely, when I'm in a gay men's bar there's almost no hostility directed towards straight women at all. They're just sort of ... invisible.

Yeah, well, the gay community has a pretty long history of straight women hangin with the gays. Hell, Kathy Griffin has made a career about of being a fag hag.

Sadly, there really is no straight men / gay women equivalent.

The straight guy/gay woman friendship definitely happens, it's just not so much in the media. That and they have to be smart enough to not make jokes about threesomes or watching.

Lighten up, Iris. I make jokes with my gay friends -- male and female -- all the time about joining in for a threesome, or about some other gay stereotype. No harm was done by the joke -- it's not like I said they wouldn't be dykes if they let me have a run at that vag.

Some dykes -- not all, I'm not typecasting - just have no sense of humor. Gay men are funnier. Let the backlash commence.
