While I can see the point of a chain store ban in the Castro why are they considering banks as part of it? I mean, maybe it's just me, but I don't really see a bank as something that's going to be competing against local businesses. Does anyone want to use a bank that only has one branch in their neighborhood? Or even worse, one branch across town? I'd say that the ban seems fine, but if WaMu wants to put in a reasonably-sized branch let them. Those of us who don't want to spend $3 a pop to get money from the ATM or run all over town just to make a deposit are always thankfully when we can actually go to the bank.
