SFist Tonight

jorge.jpg

-- Brazilian Independence Day Celebration: Help celebrate Brazil's independence from Portugal by getting drunk, listening to master drummer Jorge Alabe, maybe doing a forbidden dance or two, and much more. The festivities start at 7 p.m. at Rhythmix Cultural Works, 2513 Blanding, Alameda; $15.

-- Peaches Christ Retrospective: Not only does she liven up the stage at Trannyshack and host Midnight Mass, but Joshua Grannell (a.k.a. Peaches Christ) also makes those newfangled talking pictures, too! Check out his stuff -- along with other Trannyshack regulars and live performances by Evolution Rainbow, the Midnight Mass Players, and Ms. Christ -- at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the deYoung Museum, 50 Tea Garden Drive (in Golden Gate Park).

-- Underworld and Paul Oakenfold: Plinky, British electronic music coming at you hard. The hypnotic beats start at 8:30 p.m. at the Warfield, 982 Market (at Fifth Street); $50. [sic]

-- "Strangelove": DJs Tomas Diablo and Melting Girl pay tribute to Depeche Mode and other '80s industrial and new wave kooks. Starts at 9 p.m. at Julie's Supper Club, 1123 Folsom.

As always, feel free to let readers know about any other events happening tonight via a lovely and informative comment.

Put on your dancin' shoes, kidz, and
come out to Bimbo 's 365 Club in North Beach
for an evening with Pride & Joy Tonight, Friday, Sept. 7,
Doors at 8:00pm, show from 9:00pm til midnight, baby !
Why spend $130 - $250 to see them at the
after-party of the SF Symphony Gala next week?
Instead, for a mere $18, you can
dance your ass off all night with the
bestest most Motownist band around.
