yikes people are getting so angry every time there's a mayoral debate post...and all the attacks on each other....this isn't Baghdad, people aren't dying by the 1000s because of this stuff...why do people have to freak out all the time on the comments here and at the Chron? yes it's a super lame election, but that's what the people of SF want...they accept high crime, expensive housing and high taxes and a bloated city budget, so why shouldn't the election be a circus? SF is just getting the government it wants and deserves. Until angry people put down the blog comments and DO SOMETHING to change it, aint nuthin' gonna change.

I agree with 16 ... the so-called progressives in the City like to think of themselves as Robin Hoods, taking from the "rich" to give to the "poor." Personally, I think a thief is a thief - corporate suit or potato sack - and thieves should be re-purposed as boat anchors.

I'm not a huge fan of Newsom's, but at least he understands that a Big City mayor has to work with - not against - big businesses and developers in order to take care of the tax base that pays for all the shit that idealist "progressives" talk about doing but could never afford to do if they ran all the revenue sources out of town. Your boy Quinton seems nice, he's in over his head. But Quinton "Rampage" Jackson? I'd vote for him any day.

People seem ready to chuck public financing and ranked choice voting overboard, just because Gavin did not attract a marquee opponent. It's far too early to make that call, wait and see how it works in 2011, when the Mayor's office will be open to free and unfettered competition.

Quintin definitely wins the SIZE contest when it comes to buttons on his web site. :) I'd recommend that folks who dislike Mayor Newsom personally or dislike his policies (or both) just abstain from voting for a Mayoral candidate. There's no need to vote for folks who just want to promote their entertainment personas. Quintin may be a competitor - but he's got some learning to do first, maybe shooting for a Supervisor slot as his first elected spot instead of shooting for the stars right out of the gate.
