Matt Smith Draws!

Who knew he could control a pen (charcoal? Sharpie?) the same way he does a keyboard over at the SF Weekly offices? We sure didn't. And although we love Newsom -- we do, baby, we do. shhh. -- we also love us some Smith.

So behold! Matt's visual artistry:

What's with the recent trend in casual coke references? (straws and mirrors joke in the Bay Bridge closure post; taking umbrage at coke-ridiculing in this post)

Dropping drug references is worse than dropping names.

Stay classy, SFist.

Sure, but...a bad Will Ferrell movie reference? Really?

Wow. Was this supposed to be sympathetic or just mean? What's the bad blood between Smith and Newsom? And doesn't this blow away any vestiges of 'objective investigative reporting' for the Weekly?

Sympathetic? Uh. I'd say more like on the money, someone needs to call this mayor's "race" for what it is, a sham and nothing more than a gubernatorial warmup for the tragic prince. If bringing to light the obvious facts--i.e. our city's soaring crime rate, the middle-class being priced out from San Francisco, the so-called Green Mayor nothing more than someone who pays lip service to the phrase--won't bring Newsom down, maybe it's time to draw a cartoon. Kudos to Mr. Smith for perfectly illustrating (no pun intended) the sadness that is our mayor.

I'm not always a fan of Smith but that was fantastic.

I'm wondering why I couldn't find a copy of SF Weekly in the City today...?

aint nuthin but haters hatin

did village voice media buy a stake in the Ist Network or something?

sure seems like it.
