Hot Stuff: Food Section Round Up

Berrylicious illustration from The Oakland Tribune.
We gobble the various food sections up each Wednesday. Here are our favorite nibbles from today's offerings.
SF Chronicle: Serious bock-bock time for those of you who may not give chickens their due. Our fave chicken recipes here and here. Many chefs feel local and smaller sized pollo may add up to a better tasting bird. Oh, and at one of the Mission's best spots, when the chicken's good, it's goood. Challah time! Get your sweet on for Rosh Hashanah. Restaurant goss otherwise known as Inside Scoop reveals some PlumpJack Cafe customers "want to be challenged" but balance will be had by new front man Tyson Greenwood. Also, keep an eye on new hot spots for the upcoming Mint Plaza.
The Oakland Tribune: Shhhhhhhhhhhh! Secret (and not-so-secret) menu items are explored. Incontro's nearly naked zuke carpaccio sounds fantabulous for today's warm weather. Mouthwatering blackberries tempt and tantalize.
Green tea products glut the market. We'll take the green tea wasabi peanuts and pass on the less-than-desirable sounding cherries, chocolates and bleh! ice cream.
San Jose Mercury News: What's sweet yet tart, creamy and fresh? Froyo surges in popularity, while anorexics presumably rejoice. Also, homemade pickle time.
