Taxis, Taxi Drivers Blessed

Today was the annual blessing day for taxis and taxi drivers across SF. (Wait, magic water on Yellow Cab? No! Yellow Cab should burn in the hell!)
"Twenty-six drivers" have died on the job since 1947, which is, like, totally sad, but we love the Examiner's dismissive tone about said statisitc, saying "[t]hat's just over one death every two years." A mere drop in the bucket, really. (Hey, come write for SFist, anonymous Examiner staff member!)
Happy blessing, SF taxis drivers. And, please, stop whining to us about how no one in the city takes taxis. Because we love 'em! When we can find 'em!

Hmmm, 26 divided by 33 is a lot closer to one per year than one every other year.
you caught me. i flipped the date -- something i sometimes do -- which should now correctly read 1947.
Wait, what's wrong with Yellow Cab? I thought Luxor was the most hate-able?! Maybe this -ist needs be as obsessed with cab companies as is with MUNI. I know I'd love it.
consider it done, #3.
also, i've always had trouble with yellow cab. and i heard a rumor (myth?) that they have a blacklist for no-shows. is that true? is that true for all cab companies?
Thx. That makes it a little less depressing.
DeSoto definitely has a blacklist, I overheard on their dispatch radio them adding a repeat no show offender to the list. I asked the driver if they were serious and he confirmed.
Cab drivers constantly break the laws concerning pedestrians ... just this morning, a red light was run to make a turn onto Davis from California when the light had been red for a bit and pedestrians (myself included) entered our rightful way into the crosswalk. Anybody know where I can buy a nice little ball ping hammer with a metal handle to leave my mark on these SOBs' vehicles since SFPD can't be bothered enforcing traffic laws? I say with jest....
I love De Soto. Best cab ride of my life last thanksgiving when the driver said, "I can't really stop because [something mechanical about the engine that went right over my head].
Holy SHIT. It was like something out of Bullitt! Airborne over hills and screeching around corners.
He got extra big tip and the cab co got my undying affection.
And they SHOULD blacklist people who no-show. It's just rude. Restaurants should do the same.
Dear St Imposolina, patron of taxi riders, pray for me.
I big you to bless me in all my future taxi rides, and to get me drivers who don't talk on the cell phone in unknown ancient tongues will speeding thru red lights.
May my drivers understand enough English to know the words "market street"
Amen.
i started training desoto back in 2000 to know where my building was and that i am not blacklist material. they have always rewarded me for my loyalty. i have a special phone number for them to get me direct to dispatch even when it's busy. if you live in a building with multiple units, i think it's best to try and get everyone to agree to try and use the same company. they remember/log everything and it only makes it easier on everyone involved. this comes with risks of course if you live with a bunch of flakes and they get your building blacklisted.
Considering how they drive, fewer than one death a year is a miracle. Wait, what's the tally if you factor in how many deaths they have caused others?
So Suckafree,
You've made the VIP club at Desoto? Congrats.
I'm in at Yellow.
Last time I got picked up the driver said- "Oh hey I remember you...last time I picked you up you had different colored hair. We like customers like you that are drunk and give big tips, but never throw up in the cab"
damnit, i want in!
