According to our World Class newspaper, the Chron, "The Embarcadero Station is open after a tire aboard a Muni Metro train briefly forced officials to close the station this afternoon." Thank god the tire wasn't on fire, or it might have been serious.

Above ground for MUNI was worse. Believe it or not. It sucked (1000x more than usual) getting out of the FiDi this afternoon via MUNI.

Does this mean I'll have less competition for the free 40,000 DVD copies of Barry Bonds' record-breaking home-run they're handing out at tonight's Giants game?? I should be so lucky.

BTW the MUNI platform underground at Embarcadero is closed for the time being, BART is open. Don't know if I made that clear.

MUNI is said to be bypassing the Embarcadero underground platform but otherwise returning to normal. Don't know if they are single tracking through the station or what, I just came up from BART and BART ops are normal, with only some residual delays. So you MUNI trip should only be slightly more wretched than usual. Good excuse to stay above ground this lovely-as-usual Friday afternoon.
