Follow Ups On Blotter News

We've got some follow-up news on Blotter items covered previously!

In response to allegations by deceased Stanford engineering grad student May Zhou's father earlier this week that his daughter's death was a homicide and not self-inflicted, the Santa Rosa police released additional information from their investigation. Namely, they said they have videotape and receipts of her buying four bottles of sleeping pills from local drugstores in two days, and they have an email she sent to her younger sister a few days before she disappeared that reads like a suicide note. Three of the bottles were found in the trunk along with her body.

Well, the Oakland school board did an investigation and turned up some inappropriate-looking emails ("Dearest [student's name] (that sounds cheesy but I mean it).... I have some songs I would like to play for you but that would just get me in further trouble"), as well as some late-night rendez-vous (though Dobbins denies kissing her anywhere except on the cheek). The board has censured him and called for him to resign.

And in the murder case of Cambodian immigrant Sany San, who was brutally raped and assaulted on her way to work in San Jose, the court has ruled that the papers in the court file that detail what happened in the assault will be made available to the public, at the SJ Merc News's request. The defense attorneys for the accused are planning to file an appeal, claiming that the allegations in the papers are so "highly inflammatory" that their clients won't be able to get a fair trial if they're released.

oddly enough if you go to the URL for his old election site, THIS is what you find:

Now, he has no control over this, but, well , you know.

Interesting new info...but I still don't really understand why someone would get into a trunk of a car to kill themself. Is this weird to anyone else or just me? I can see why the father would be more inclined to think that maybe someone put the body in there.
