Yeah! The only thing worse than a hipster (I mean eeewww!) is a hipster that started a non-profit that provides free after-school tutoring. I mean, how annoying is that! Geez, the nerve of these people....

Say what you will, but 826 Valencia is a unique organization that kids love and is helping to get kids excited about writing. I've loved it for my own son - you can't beat the pirate store at the front to capture the imagination of a kid who loathes writing. Who cares about Dave Eggers - it was his idea, it's a good one and more power to him.

Am I the only person in the universe who finds Eggers' hipster-crusaderism insufferably self-serving? And that his writing sucks, except for that diary of his? Ugh. Every time a doe-eyed recent graduate ladles sycophantic praise on that guy a child somewhere gets rickets.
