We thought the orange lighting honoring Barry Bonds at City Hall and other structures would be history now that he's made history. But we could still see the umber illuminations as recently as this morning. Enjoy them while you can. We'll look forward to seeing this kind of lighting again in October if San Francisco doesn't cancel Halloween.
Update: Upon further review, it appears these special lights are actually red to honor the launch of Virgin America Airlines. Boy is our face...red.

This is probably also from Virgin America's launch. They lit up these landmarks on the 8th....
The light was red, nerd. Really, really unquestionably red. It wasn't lit up like usual, though, but rather from trucks down on the street.
Two other buildings across the street (I can't recall their names right now, but one of them is across the street from the Public Utilities Commission, and the other one is across the street from the Symphony) were lit up, too.
Must've been some event or something.
As was (or is?) Coit Tower.
I am pretty sure it's for V.A.'s launch as well.
I work at the Ferry Building and it seems City Hall has whored out all of our public buildings to promote Virgin Airlines...for the next few nights too, from what we were told.
I hope they keep lighting up the dome. It's similar to what the Empire State Building in NYC does for various events, and looks cool.
Yes, Coit Tower has been red, blood red, for the last 2 nights.
This is red, but a couple weeks ago (after Barry hit two in Chigago to come with one HR of the record) they did light City Hall in orange. It was the same lighting they used when the World Series was in town in 2002.
Shouldn't it be: "Boy, is our faces red?" or "Boy, are our faces red." or "Boy, our faces are red."
[My inner thought: "boy, is my whole body stoned?"
Does this make us a 'RED' city?
