Is it just me, or is Carole Migden starting to look like Granny Clampet on The Beverly Hillbillies?
Wow, that Migden podcast was intense. I was thoroughly entertained while listening to it as I cleaned my bedroom.
It was crazy how every person paused, and was like, "oh my god, she just almost smashed into a truck/car/guardrail." I felt like I was there, and it reminded me of one of those anxiety nightmares about driving.
And the S3 license plate. That's the topper!
So how long have cell phones been used now to deliver chemo?
Migden looks a bit like Phil Spector in that particular photo... yowsa.

Randy Shaw has an interesting take on the Transbay designs - none of which were intended to be all condo, but rather mixed use between retail/office/hotel/condo spaces. Whether or not millionaires occupy the condo portions, won't their property tax dollars go just as far in this town as folks' who live and work in San Francisco full-time? The tower stretching beyond 1000 feet helps maximize the property tax revenues for the City - which then goes to the necessities and the bullshit programs that everybody cries about.
Those Migden-911 TAPES were awesome. Boy, I'm glad she doesn't live in San Francisco.
Gavin Newsom is a principled fighter for gay marriage and would never endorse a candidate who is against it and for the Defense of Marriage Act.
Oh wai
Randy the poverty pimp shaw seems to only feel that millionaires should live in the berkeley hills - like himself.
What a douche.
Randy Shaw's article demonstrates lacking senses of pragmatism and practicality. Where from does $1 billion in funding come? Does Mr. Shaw expect the city to fund the new transit hub? Is Nancy Pelosi going to earmark it for us?
This project is going to be ecostly, and to cover those expenses you have to make the very, very most out of the real estate. Construction is increasingly expensive and one of the best ways to maximize the cost-effectiveness of a tower is to make it even taller.
Perhaps Mr. Shaw would like to reduce the size of the tower by 35% by eliminating the affordable units? Building housing for multimillionaires helps decrease the upward price pressure they exert on other neighborhoods, but Mr. Shaw can't see the forest for the trees.
It doesn't surprise me that the people Mr. Shaw talks to aren't keen on the project. After all, they are the sort of people Mr. Shaw is keen to talk to.
There's one place where Mr. Shaw gets it right: Using phrases like "There was a time..." and "used to." The area of unconditional opposition to high-rises is over, as people have to come realize there are some places in which they are appropriate. More housing nearly everywhere is what SF needs, so let's keep our eyes on that prize.
