Pelosi has completely pussied out of doing anything useful with her position. Time and time again she has caved and given in to Bush's demands. The fact that she is completely unwilling to push for impeachment against the will of her constituents is completely unacceptable and for that alone she needs to be removed from office.

What's the point of having someone in a high political office if they're more concerned with keeping that office by not upsetting anyone than they are with doing what their constituents ask of them?

I didn't have time to read the other posts here, but I did read someplace else that the residency requirements aren't the same for local supervisors vs. state reps.

Anyone else with the real facts (and not just my baked memory) care to add?

Sheehan lives in Doolittle's district - a pro-Bush Republican, facing ethics investigations, even. Why doesn't she run against him? Wouldn't that make more of a difference in Congress? I truly do not get her strategy here.

Other than the self-aggrandizing one, that is. And I support her anti-war goals.

Hey GoCindy,

I've been to Texas too. The rest is a shit hole. Vacaville is a lot like Texas. Use the transitive property to get where I'm going with that.

Oh, and us sophisticated Friscoites love Austin, but primarily becase they have dirty hippies, which we also like(/hate).

Shehan's Heart of Gold vs. "What has she done for you lately?" Pelosi

Both are carpetbaggers. I know which one I'd choose if I were picking candidates based on my gut. Fortunately though I have a brain and recognize San Francisco may never get this chance at pork barrel federal money love that we have with the speaker of the house representing us.

Dearest guest 9,

No way. Instead Nancy can off Cindy by hurling one of her diamond necklaces at her throat like Nunchakus.

To Guest above. Oh, I get it now. Vacaville. That's like a joke about her lack of sophistication. That's funny.

I've traveled all over the country and apparently you haven't because had you done so, you might realize that, except for a superb fashion sense perpetuated by the Gay community, SF has nothing on Texas.

The only difference between SF and Dallas is that Dallas is new, clean, and well kept. Just about every other town in the Hooterville section of Texas has similar characteristics. SF, on the other hand, may have un-emptied dumpsters taller than some of our rural buildings, but thats about it.

I lived in SF for a month while in brokerage training for DWR along time ago. It does have personality. So does my mustachioed Aunt Dorothy.

Maybe you guys could benefit from a country rube like Cindy. Good faith actually does account for something, even among sophisticates like yourselves. Maybe the political machine isn't as glamourous when you take a good look around and realize what it's really done for you. Then again, if you've never been anywhere else, how could you know? Vacaville, that's funny.

Oh god, I don't know what it is about this post that sets me off. Maybe it's the vino talking, but um, Cindy, honey, sweetheart ... a word?

If you really, truly believe in your heart of hearts that the intensely political voters of the City of San Francisco are going to cede control of the United States House of Representatives to Some Centrist Schmuck, you are in error.

Take a poll ... anywhere; North Beach, the Sunset, the Castro. Talk to, you know, actual registered voters. Ask the odd waitress or cabdriver what your chances of success are. (Remember, those kids in the Haight don't vote in congressional elections.) Do the math. You may have to carpool with Josh Wolf to those press conferences. Cause Pelosi is gonna have you for brunch.

We all know Nancy's a machine pol. She's no better than Willie or any of the Burton Boys. And this town used to have a reputation for hating those dirty, corrupt incumbents. Back in the day (read: pre-speakership) we might have thrown you ... what? 20%? 30%? Just to see a good primary fight. Keep Old Blinky on her toes. Throw the bums out & pass the popcorn etc., etc.

But Cindy. Oh Cindy. She is now literally the most powerful woman in country. Nancy went and got herself control of exactly one half of the American Congress. The boys in the Castro will give that up when you pry it from their dead, manicured fingers.

And should a solar eclipse occur ... should you actually win the election, I'm sure the Articles of Impeachment will positively crack open like a Harry Potter horcrux. Why? Because you're such adroit parliamentarian. Pigs will then commence with flight.

This is a stunt. Fair enough, we applauded your stunts before. We egged you on. And for good reason. Your activism was admirable. You sacrifice is to be honored. But just as it was for you and your son, so it is with Pelosi and the California 8th: it's a Family Thing. Madam Speaker is now Big Momma. Not just to us, but to the nation. Her federal clout is an extension of our local electorate.

But you, Mrs. Sheehan ... how to put this nicely ?

You're from Vacaville.

Perhaps "we all agree that Ed Jew is comedy gold," but we would like some representation in District 4 that doesn't focus on replanting vandalized trees in Chinatowne.

Sincerely,

Let me start by saying that Pelosi is not my favorite politician by any stretch.

But God forbid Sheehan moves to a district that has a rep that is FOR continuing the war in Iraq, and help ensure that our military action in Iraq can finish.

St. Cindy didn't get her way, so she is going to let other folk's kids die over there to get her point across.

Typical extremist view, just as irritating on the left as it is on the right! Disgusting.

Maybe a person near to her that isn't a zealot could explain to Mrs. Sheehan about how our gov'mint works. She obviously missed that day in her HS American Government class.
