We'll try not to overdo all the Bonds stuff today, but to get you started, here's a video taken from somebody out in the centerfield bleachers, right where the ball landed. It's a little hard to see what's going on (it reminded us of all those zombie attacks in those 28 Days/28 Weeks zombie movies in that the footage is very grainy and shaky and moves so fast you can hardly see what’s going on) but you can get a sense of all the mayhem that took place after it happened. If you want to read more about what happened, SFGate has a report-- it all sounds pretty scary in that it actually comes off like something out of those 28 Days/28 Weeks zombie movies. The guy who caught the ball, btw, was a Mets fan.
Hopefully, we'll have a first hand account of the proceedings later today.

Love the sound effects: [high pitched] woo! woo! woo! woo! woo! woo-hoo-hoo-hoo! woo-hoo-hoo-hoo!
Better than "sounds of the rainforest," at least until it starts with the [low pitched] yeaaah! yeah! yeaah! yeah! yeaaah!
Considering that my own -ist just spend a week wasting bandwidth with around 20 posts about a stupid concert series that had no ramifications on anyone who didn't go to the detriment of anything else, I think SF-ist would be justified in over-indulging in Bonds Fever for a day. Of course, I'm one of the few fans outside San Francisco happy to be around to see this moment in baseball history. I happened to be in San Francisco a week earlier. I wish I had been there to see this.
Someone in the SFGate comments section had a great idea...have MLB use generic, unmarked balls (the idea being that if nobody knows which is the real one, they're all worthless). One less souvenir for Cooperstown, but worth it to avoid these brawls in the stands.
That SFGate article is disgusting. Fighting for the ball before someone has it, well, it's gonna happen...but trying to jack it away from the Mets fan? And bragging about it to the press? That ain't right! A lot of people quoted in that article seem to think it's no big deal. That's scary.
Why do I hate professional sports so much...can't remember...oh yeah, this is why.
