SFist Reader Mari Ota thought these sea critters looked awfully cute, so she snapped a pic from the Pacific Coast Highway using her aging Canon 10D and 400mm lens. Do you have some good photos too? Well then just tag them sfist on the Flickr why don't you?

Bolinas Lagoon in western Marin County is just eleven miles from the south tower of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco but it seems a world apart. Until just a few years ago, it looked like the feds were all set to start dredging in this estuary, the one with the greatest biodiversity of any in the world. Some alarmists predicted that the lagoon would have dried up into a meadow by now, but things are looking up. These harbor seals might prefer to have more water then the few inches they are in, but it seems the radical step of dredging won't be necessary in the near future. Good.

in my next life i want to come back as a harbor seal and swim around the waters of the sf bay and marin. they seem so happy, that's gotta be a higher plane of existence.
hey mari,
i hope you used a zoom lens on this one. the retirees around the lagoon love to call the park ranger anytime they see a kayak paddle withing 500 feet of these guys.
