It's Got to Be the Morning After

sp_athletics108.jpgBraves 4 Giants 2- A lot of people seem to be thinking that Barry is going to hit the big dinger this home stand. So all the press is here and the demand for tickets is as high as an elephant’s eye. Ain't gonna happen. Anyone who's been following all things Barry knows that whenever he gets close to some record, he gets all slump-y, probably due to all the hype and pressure surrounding him and so it takes him awhile to get to the big number. And that's when he was at his best-- he's not at his best now, which means he’ll probably take that much longer to get there. All of which brings us to the chattering out there about when and where he breaks the record and the speculation that Barry and the Giants so want this record broken at home that they'll rig it so that he does. Guess the feeling out there is that if Barry does it on the road, there'll be a soccer riot breaking out. So what they’re saying is that the Giants will intentionally sit Barry on the road just enough to make sure that there's no way he'll be break the record in the team's grays. This despite the evidence out there that it's possibly the stupidest thing anyone has ever thought up due to it's complete disregard to reality. We swear, it's stuff like this said by purported baseball experts and sportswriters on ESPN that makes us think they're just making pulling just as much stuff out of their ass as we are.

And in other Bonds news, his alleged ex-mistress is doing her best to come off as a credible witness by taking it all off for Playboy.

A's 12 Angels 6- We have to admit that in light of this weekend's anemic effort, we didn't think the A's had much of a chance against the Los Angeles Angels of the 5 Freeway. So lookee what happened-- the offense went off. The long lost Mike Piazza hit a three run home run and Mark Ellis hit a pair of solo home runs to lead the mayhem. Long lost reliever Huston Street also made a return to the game, pitching an inning. In other A's news, they released Bobby Kielty to make room for Street.

No wonder nobody bought my tickets off craigslist. (And has ANYONE EVER sold anything on the Giants' own website?!)

"...the Los Angeles Angels of the 5 Freeway." Brilliant! The Angels deserved to be mocker for the rest of eternity for that idiotic name change.

Maybe in two years we can call the A's the 880 Athletics? And just wait until the two teams play each other after the 2009 season. New York may have the subway series, but we've got the freeway series!
