It's Not Over til the Grand Jury Sings

Barry-Bonds-Headling-Steroids.jpgHey, remember that Grand Jury that was out there looking into the whole BALCO mess? And remember how supposedly the Grand Jury dropped that issue and instead started investigating Barry B? Well, according to the New York Daily News, the Grand Jury got themselves six more months to look at the case against Barry and that supposedly they have a pretty good case against him. The source in the story say that the Grand Jury has enough to go after Barry but wants at least six more months to make the case go from pretty strong to dead-to-rights strong. They are also afraid of making it look too political in handing down the indictment right around the time Barry is on the verge of breaking the big record.

The case against Bonds stems from the initial Grand Jury on BALCO. Barry got up there and told everyone he never used steroids except by accident when he got duped into taking the Cream and the Clear. That was pretty much a lie. During the trial, investigators into BALCO presented evidence after evidence that Barry did pretty much take steroids. The gob loads of evidence was eventually leaked and turned up in the book "Game of Shadows." Bonds is being nailed for lying to the Grand Jury which is a pretty bad thing unless you're Scooter Libby.

As for Bonds, when asked about it before Saturday's game, he said "do I look concerned?" His lawyer, however, did some trash talking over the weekend and told MSNBC that "I've kicked their ass in private, I'll continue to kick their ass in public." We're not quite sure antagonizing prosecuting attorneys is a smart legal maneuver.

There's something about this whole thing that has rubbed us the wrong way. Barry pretty much lied to the Grand Jury because he figured his testimony would be leaked and it would make him look bad. Naturally, the testimony was leaked and now he's in trouble for lying. Sort of a damned-do-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't type scenario if you ask us. We know that Grand Jury testimony is never supposed to be revealed, but doesn't it seem like every major case that features Grand Jury testimony eventually gets leaked? Barry basically got in trouble for not trusting a process he had no reason in trusting.

Dude, hate to tell you, Barry's in trouble because he used steroids.

Bush prides himself as a baseball guy(it's all he knows); he'll pardon Barry also.

I agree with guest3:08. Barry is in trouble because he used steroids.

From the article which the story was linked to:

"Bonds is being investigated for perjury and tax evasion."

Jon, you said "Barry pretty much lied to the Grand Jury because he figured his testimony would be leaked and it would make him look bad."

My point is if he had never used steroids he never would have had to lie to the grand jury and therefore there would have been nothing to "leak".

He made his own bed.
