wow, dcad, sounds like you've received a citation from Inspector Randall. Sounds like you took it personally....

your comment is number 21 by the way...

li'l obsessive don't you think? Sounds like she did a good job in my book.

The mean bald female fare inspector is Kathleen "Nani" Randall Badge #21. In my opinion she is a menace to the community and should be fired. I would advise anyone with a bad experience with this fare inspector to file a complaint. Here is a link to the online complaint form:

[19] 311 is NOT FOR POLICE OR FIRES.

Use 911 or to get to SFPD EMERG only from a cell phone use 553-8090

#18 - Yeah, I did call 311 and advised them. I also lodged a formal complaint against the driver.

I was also informed of the 1 dog (muzzled) rule per vehicle. In the future, when I see an unmuzzled dog, I will inform the driver of THEIR responsibility NOT to let the owner on the MUNI with the unmuzzled dog.

#16 - If I'm not mistaken, 1 dog (must be muzzled) on a vehicle at a time.

I like suckafree's idea of the kiosk. Maybe not at every stop, but every so often or at the busy ones (duboce park, for example).

Also to #16, I think it's aweful that the driver didnt' give a shit. You should complain to MUNI to get the video of the situation. Also, doesn't everyone cary a goddamned cell phone these days. Anybody else could have called in the attempted robbery...

I took a look at it via Google Street View, and yup, you're right that it's stupid and dangerous, and also pointless (why make a stop on the other side of the stop sign?). Ah well. I shouldn't be surprised.

I agree with the earlier comment regarding dogs on the MUNI. I didn't know that it was okay to have dogs on the MUNI, unless the dog was to assist a person?

Another issue... I was on the J-Church on Tuesday, July 17, and a woman ran to the front of the car to advise the driver (who also had another person just sitting in the cab talking to her) that someone tried to rob a woman of her Ipod (knocking her to the floor) at the back of the car (near 22nd and 24th Streets) and to please call the police. Instead of doing anything, the driver ignored it and continued driving. When we left the 24th St stop, a couple ran to the driver to tell the driver that the same person who tried to rob the woman was now fighting with other people on the train and to call the police. Again, the driver ignored the requests. Many of the women on the car were afraid and got off at the next stop (Clifford). What is the protocol for drivers to do when police are needed on MUNI cars? It should not be up to the riders to police the MUNI cars!

Greetings #6 -
The in-bound boarding platform at 31st & Judah is not on the west side at the stop sign - like it is at almost every other stop - it is on east side of the intersection. When there are doubles the first street car pulls way past the ramp putting the second car at the ramp. If it didn't it would block the intersection. The reason this is dangerous is because vehicles drive a very narrow lane to pass the ramp (no street parking allowed here)then have to veer left sharply to miss the parked cars. This puts people attempting to get on the first car right in their path. Very dangerous and stupid!!

Unless you paste in the whole link above in your browser, the link won't work. But, you can go to:
http://www.sfgov.org/site/sfdhr_index.asp
Then, click on "Class & Comp Database". Then search by union. It's the TWU L200. You can find out what everyone in the city makes this way--what fun!

we should put kiosks at all the stops and force everyone to pay before they get on board, like bart, like caltrain, like nyc, like london, etc, etc, etc..

i've had my complaints with muni, but i have to say that in the past few days i've had a content time, and 311 has made all the difference. ive never waited an obscene amount of time for the following lines: 48, 27, 12, 30, 45, 1. and all of my morning-to-work buses have arrived.

so congrats muni, you guys are alright

I'm noticing an alarming trend. Unmuzzled dogs on Muni. On streetcars in particular. I've seen a lot of pit-bulls. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs. I just don't think they belong unmuzzled on trains. It's scary. What is the policy?

Just a side comment to the mom buying a FastPass online. Wouldn't it be nice if you could subscribe to FastPasses? Just put in your CC# and have it magically appear in your mailbox?

Or do they offer that and I'm just not seeing it?

Hello,
I'm the mom who posted. The stop that I am referring to is 31st and Judah. There is an island that you can wait on safely if you are to board the second car. In order to board the first car, you have to step out into the middle of the street, as cars pass by.

I did not try to talk my way out of a ticket. As I stated, I explained to the officer if she felt she needed to ticket me, that was fine.

I did buy a monthly pass for August online.

I'm trying to figure out what stop in the Sunset stops in the middle of traffic (even the back doors of the first car? really?). This isn't passing the smell test.

Anyway, it sounds like the mother should be thankful she talked her way out of an expensive ticket (or two), and not complaining about the inspector's attitude. That was, as they say, a freebie. And look into a monthly pass, if it's so unsafe to board the fare-paying car (yet she totally completely meant to pay, and totally respects the job the inspectors are doing).

P.S. MUNI should make it easier to buy the damn passes.

from the SFDHR website, here is slary range:

Transit Operator (#9163 )

$17.06-$27.08 hourly /
$2,957.00-$4,694.00 monthly /
$35,486.00-$56,326.00 Yearly

Most operators probably earn the high range after 5-10 years on duty.

can you please ask the muni security or driver a question for me? what does the average, tenured muni driver make per year, not the rookies but the one's that are pretty much guaranteed employment for life.

thx
